Professional Esthetician vs Self-bought Products

Ever wonder why it's necessary to see an Esthetician (aka Skincare Professional or Skincare Therapist) for skincare rather than just purchasing product online, from an infomercial, at a cosmetics counter, or from an Independent Beauty Distributor? A well trained and knowledgeable Esthetician is not limited to a company's scripted, fundamental approach to addressing COMMON skincare concerns (i.e.: Dry, Combination, Oily, Aging). Some companies do not always delve into the science of skin physiology while considering medical history, genetics, lifestyle and hormones which all affect the skin one way or the other. Estheticians can assess the skin with certain tools that see beyond the naked eye and choose or recommend products suitable for that INDIVIDUAL. Good Estheticians have a trained eye to identify certain skin conditions that are beyond the scope of their profession to diagnose and treat. A skin care therapist should refer clients to a Dermatoligist on a "by-case" basis. They're not driven by money to treat skin that they believe may worsen with treatment. They could partner with the Dermatologist and assist with skin maintenance by performing facials. This would increase dull skin cell turnover which decreases with age like the body's metabolism. Left unchecked could foster an environment for clogged pores, acne, dull, pale, and age accelarated skin.
