Turn N Burn or Go N Glo

Who wouldn’t want that sun-kissed look on their skin in the summertime? Many choose the sun or a tanning booth, while others opt for bronzers. They come in the form of lotion, sprays, powder, and minerals. The key to a natural looking, sunless tan is of course, proper application. Streaks are disempowering. If overdone, one can look like a human orange or a golden android. It’s always best to seek out a spa professional who could apply a professional, spreadable tan or a spray-bake that’s suitable for you. However, if it’s not in your budget, I advise you to do your homework rather than risking a hit-or-miss purchase.

The benefits of bronzers can easily be found to far outweigh the pleasures of tanning. A sun-free, faux glow is safer than an electrical tanning source or sun bathing. The only drawbacks of topical bakes are risks of discoloration and a short wear-time. Exposure to age-accelerating rays from either tanning source causes skin damage that may NOT be seen for years by the naked eye. Technologically advanced tools, such as a Wood’s Lamp, would be used by an Esthetician could foresee any sun damage.

Adding to that, the Sun’s UVA/UVB rays increases many health risks besides the obvious; skin cancer-yes, even with sunscreen. Tanning dries the skin which not only promotes flakiness, but premature wrinkles, and eventually, a leathery look and feel. Dry skin is more susceptible to a bacterial breeding ground, because the skin’s protective lipid barrier, created by oil glands, has been stripped. It’s comparable to traumatized skin that’s been rug burned or wind chaffed. The skin’s integrity is compromised whereas drops of lemon juice would easily penetrate and burn than it would on skin that’s intact.

Now you can make an informed decision. You can either Turn N Burn or Go N Glo. Choosing the latter essentially means that you wil have avoided the need to invest more time and money into your skin to slow down and attempt to reverse premature signs of aging.

Stay tuned for the next posting of how to choose the best facial bronzer for your skin and body regardless of whether or not you are a person of color.

Finally sunshine has arrived “yeah”!!!!!
We are all glad that summer is here, well most of us. Some prefer the cold weather but regardless of what type of season you enjoy this goes for everyone. The sun is the number one cause of 80% of visible skin aging this is when fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, enlarged or broken blood vessels and loss of elasticity come into play. That’s not all a lot of use will develop hyper pigmentation (Discoloration of the skin) or has already. We most not forget about sunburn or skin cancer that could also take place. Sun can cause a numerous amount of skin problems. So with this said in all honesty wearing SPF (Sun Protected Factor) will help protect our skin from some dangers of the sun. No matter what race, age, or gender a SPF of at least 15 is recommended, but there are brands that make a higher SPF level and the higher the better. Here are some that I would recommend:

Aveeno
Neutrogena
Alba Botanica
Mission Skin Care
Bull Frog
Blue Lizard

Your skin is beautiful let’s take care of it.

Try it Nude

When you think of summertime nails you typically think of bright, bold, and daring “notice me” colors. But you just might discover that it’s better in the NUDE! Nude nail polish colors are a hot trend this summer. The “barely there” colors showed up on the fingertips of models in both The House of Chanel and The House of Marc Jacobs during the showcase of their spring 2010 collections. Celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson, and Rihanna have also been spotted going nude. These colors are super sexy and feminine! They offer a crisp and clean look for your nails. They are perfect for any summer wedding or backyard barbeque. If you want to try this tre´s chic trend for this season, try “Dulce de Leche” by O.P.I. (my personal favorite), “A lot of Shekels” by essie, “Toss the Garter” by Orly, “Innocence” by China Glaze, and the list goes on and on. Whatever brand you try, you are sure to love your nails in these colors! So don’t be shy, try it nude! You will be glad you did.
